Our well water has been giving us problems since we first moved in… bad tasting water, horrible smells, and iron deposits in the toilets, tubs…etc. Since our water tasted so bad, we have been hauling in drinking water from a near by spring – which kind of worked.
Looking long term, we decided to get a water treatment system for the house that will take out all the minerals and purify the water. Looking around we found a great company called Water Treatment Tech. They were awesome!!! In fact, we were able to strike a deal with the company owner allowing Emily to build them a website in exchange for a discounted price!
The system was installed Monday – and we can already tell the differences.
The details: the system is called a Reionator. It uses an ion transfers system to remove unwanted minerals as well as Potassium to soften the water. (note: potassium is better then salt – which most softeners use – as our bodies get tons of salt from the fooods we eat; but we generally don't get enough potassium)
With the softer, purer water, we will not have to use as much soap to wash our clothes, dishes or bodies. Our appliances should last longer as well…

Here's what the system looks like installed in our well house
Every once in a while the system backflushes itself – as such, we had to install a drainage hole for the water. I'm going to try to put some gravel on top of the pipe this weekend and bury it…
